The rest of the league will want that one back. Terrance Ferguson tumbling to the Cowboys in Round 5, Pick 31 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. The West reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Javonte Williams pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get protection for the quarterback, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reach on Alfred Collins in pick 44; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jihaad Campbell at the 51st overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Trey Amos all the way to the 76th pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Isaiah Bond slipping to No. 85 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan James in pick No. 150 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Terrance Ferguson was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a quarterback like Tyler Shough reach slot 172 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Addison West. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
