Somebody in Round 5, Pick 11 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Malachi Moore, the No. 104 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The Conner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, with Walter Nolen leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
Walter Nolen at the 33rd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Armand Membou in slot 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Trey Amos in Round 3, Pick 3 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quinshon Judkins slipping to the 76th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Malachi Moore at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They talked themselves into Hayden Conner at pick No. 171, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tyler Shough at No. 174 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
