When a board-topper like Roman Wilson slides to the Round 4 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Hit on Tyler Guyton and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
T'Vondre Sweat in No. 56 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Junior Colson at the 75th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Zak Zinter at the 87th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Payton Wilson in pick 90 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 4 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in pick No. 124, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cam Hart at slot 174 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Jalen Green in the 212th pick, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Jeremy Flax at slot 245 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
