The one they had to fix is still broken. The Cowboys left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
That Greenfield pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Junior Colson at the 50th pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Wright in pick No. 69; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Mekhi Wingo in pick 100, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
They let Brenden Rice come to them and pounced at No. 105. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Kamal Hadden, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaylen Harrell at the 216th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Garret Greenfield at No. 233 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Josh Proctor in Round 7, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
