The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Matthew Golden, the 44th pick, roughly 31 picks past where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 23 they get a building block for the line, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 44th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Alfred Collins in pick 54; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Kaleb Johnson all the way to the 76th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Tai Felton in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malachi Moore at No. 149 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Seth McLaughlin at Round 5, Pick 33 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jake Briningstool in pick No. 174 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
