They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: J.J. Weaver, 143 picks early at pick 209. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Stutsman pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a featured back, and a steal at that.
Jalon Walker slipping to pick No. 43 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Alfred Collins was the payoff at the 74th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Kevin Winston Jr. in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Danny Stutsman in No. 168 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 5, Pick 32 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cobee Bryant at Round 5, Pick 33 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They jumped the gun on Ricky White III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for J.J. Weaver at No. 209, and the board is aghast. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
