You could see the war room lean forward. Kamal Hadden at the Round 5 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They took Jermaine Burton at par in the 56th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Christian Mahogany at the 87th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, James Williams a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Kamal Hadden all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nice patience on Dominic Lovett, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 37. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They went early on Zion Nelson in pick 245, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
