Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Caedan Wallace, the No. 135 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 244th overall pick.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Graham Barton at pick 56 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Malachi Corley in the 87th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Isaiah Davis in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Jordan Magee at slot 216 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 233 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Caedan Wallace was still sitting there in pick No. 244, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
