Arizona Cardinals

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals clearly saw something nobody else did in Haynes King, taking him 70 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.17 · Pick 17 · Jonah Savaiinaea · OT · rank 37
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 55
A straight-up fair deal on Domani Jackson at pick 49, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Aeneas Peebles · DL · rank 87
By-the-book stuff, Aeneas Peebles at No. 81 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.17 · Pick 118 · Haynes King · QB · rank 188
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Haynes King. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.14 · Pick 152 · Antwane Wells Jr. · WR · rank 182
Antwane Wells Jr. at the 152nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
