You build a draft on nights like this. Caelen Carson had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 10, and the Giants did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board fumbled Rome Odunze all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
JC Latham at No. 47 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jonathon Brooks is a better player than the 70th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a linebacker like Payton Wilson reach the 100th overall pick and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Zak Zinter at Round 4, Pick 14 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jarrian Jones in pick 143, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Caelen Carson still on the board at pick No. 185. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Ben Sinnott was still sitting there in the 211th pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taulia Tagovailoa. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
