When a board-topper like Brock Bowers slides to No. 56, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Watson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Brock Bowers at pick 56 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Bralen Trice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
Braelon Allen at the 125th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Jordan Jefferson at slot 173 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Nathaniel Watson at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Maurice Smith in the 242nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
