Somewhere a general manager is explaining how T.J. Sanders got past him. The Vikings do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 256. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Travis Hunter at slot 34 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach pick 37 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kenneth Grant at pick No. 132 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at Round 5, Pick 22 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 248th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
T.J. Sanders in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
