The Cowboys spent real capital to be 40 picks early on Eyabi Okie-Anoma, and the board is going to hold them to it.
They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Xavier Legette at pick 64 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 87 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nehemiah Pritchett in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Hunter Nourzad in the 174th overall pick, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joe Milton III in the 216th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dominique Hampton in Round 7, Pick 13 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eyabi Okie-Anoma. A minor need, but a need all the same.
