The Michael Barrett selection is the head-turner. The Eagles reached 58 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Gray pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with safety and running back still on the board.
That Jones pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, and a steal at that.
The board had Chris Braswell higher than the Round 2 slot, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at slot 53 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A reach on Khyree Jackson in pick 76; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A want over a need in the 86th overall pick: Cedric Gray adds a linebacker while safety and running back keeps waiting.
They did well to land Cam Hart in Round 3, Pick 34, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mekhi Wingo in pick No. 122. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach for AJ Barner in pick 144; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Javon Foster in slot 146 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Michael Barrett in the 160th pick says they were not listening. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Mason McCormick, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 35. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Jacob Cowing all the way to the 178th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Keegan at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Taking Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in Round 7, Pick 17 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Elijah Jones at the 240th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
