You build a draft on nights like this. Tre Harris had no business being available in the 219th pick, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Golden has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a home-run threat at receiver, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jalon Walker in slot 38 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 54 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Colston Loveland at the 69th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Mike Green in the 77th pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Marcus Mbow reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ashton Jeanty in No. 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: Maxwell Hairston at Round 4, Pick 7 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Omarr Norman-Lott still on the board at pick No. 127. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Walter Nolen at slot 145 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Demetrius Knight Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They will replay Tre Harris at the 219th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Will Howard was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 4, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Oronde Gadsden II at pick 240 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
