The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Christian Jones slide 34 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in the 56th pick, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Malachi Corley, who had no business lasting to slot 87. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Darius Robinson at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value with a capital V on Braelon Allen in the 173rd overall pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, JD Bertrand at Round 6, Pick 38. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Christian Jones was still sitting there in pick 242, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
