There is conviction, and then there is this. The Eagles took Joe Milton III a full 29 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Trotter Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get an island corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in pick No. 53; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nice patience on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 82. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They jumped the gun on Isaac Guerendo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Fair-plus on Mason McCormick, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jacob Cowing is a better player than the 161st overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Myles Cole, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Joe Milton III at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Gabe Hall at Round 6, Pick 35 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
