You build a draft on nights like this. TreVeyon Henderson had no business being available in the 169th pick, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A slide stopped in the 42nd pick, with Tate Ratledge worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jay Higgins in No. 149 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at the 169th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Jackson at pick 170, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Parker Brailsford in pick No. 171 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Samuel Brown at Round 6, Pick 34. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
