The rest of the league will want that one back. Danny Stutsman tumbling to the Cardinals in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
They will need Ersery to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
If Aireontae Ersery and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Garrett Nussmeier in pick No. 51 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jalen Royals is a better player than pick 83 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Rylie Mills in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Danny Stutsman all the way to No. 156, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tony Grimes well ahead of where he belonged. It adds depth where they could use a little.
