They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Troy Fautanu at the 45th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board fumbled Ja'Tavion Sanders all the way to No. 69, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamari Lassiter in Round 3, Pick 12 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Roger Rosengarten still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
