This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kamari Ramsey, the No. 74 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 3.
The Jets indulged a want in Styles while a need in quarterback, wide receiver and other spots stayed open. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick 16 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Sonny Styles while clear needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
The board had Brandon Cisse higher than the 44th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kamari Ramsey in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Fair-plus on Kaleb Proctor, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Zane Durant at par in Round 5, Pick 39, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TJ Hall at pick No. 228. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A quiet steal in pick No. 242: Andre Fuller for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
