There is conviction, and then there is this. The Giants took Fa'alili Fa'amoe a full 64 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Scott steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In the 31st pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter.
Fair-plus on Denzel Boston, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Keionte Scott in slot 105 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Oscar Delp in the 145th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 186 with a little surplus value in Febechi Nwaiwu. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Matt Gulbin in slot 192 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick 193 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
