You could see the war room lean forward. Skyler Bell at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Giants paired the rookies with proven help, Trevor Penning leading the way.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
In pick 27 they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Max Iheanachor slid further than he should have, and the 55th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Daylen Everette at pick No. 105 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a wide receiver like Skyler Bell reach Round 4, Pick 23 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reasonable price with a little left over, DeMonte Capehart in No. 145. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nice patience on Kage Casey, who had no business lasting to slot 170. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Louis Moore in the 186th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Febechi Nwaiwu is a better player than the 192nd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Anez Cooper for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Latrell McCutchin Sr. at slot 256 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
