You could see the war room lean forward. Raheim Sanders at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Colston Loveland at pick No. 38 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Deone Walker at pick 69 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyle Kennard. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ozzy Trapilo slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in the 145th pick, where Emery Jones Jr. graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylen Reed in Round 7, Pick 1 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Raheim Sanders in the 222nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They barely believed it either: Craig Woodson still on the board at No. 240. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
