Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Bub Means. He came off 45 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They banked enough surplus on Ali to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in pick 41, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and T.J. Tampa at pick No. 58 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Marshawn Kneeland in the 88th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at the 91st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Renardo Green higher than slot 127, and the safety fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 32, where Mason McCormick graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
