The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Quinshon Judkins fell into No. 172. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Greene reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in No. 76, with Deone Walker worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jay Higgins at the Round 5 slot is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board fumbled Lathan Ransom all the way to pick No. 170, and they scooped it up. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A running back of that caliber at pick 172 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman at the 174th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Jonah Monheim here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Hunter Wohler at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Garrett Greene at pick No. 249 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
