There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Zion Logue a full 76 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The Worthy pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Somehow Kamari Lassiter was still sitting there in pick 56, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Xavier Worthy in slot 87 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in the 124th overall pick, with Jaden Hicks worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
You do not let a running back like Dillon Johnson reach No. 138 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Zion Logue in Round 5, Pick 38 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
