Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent Round 6, Pick 27 on Sam Hartman, a name the board had a full 57 spots lower. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Johnson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Eichenberg pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kingsley Suamataia well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 58. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Audric Estime at slot 88 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cole Bishop in the 91st pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beaux Limmer. The roster fit checks out.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 26 on Tommy Eichenberg with edge rusher unsolved.
Brandon Coleman in slot 169 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Sam Hartman at the 202nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Cornelius Johnson was still sitting there in pick 219, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Brevyn Spann-Ford at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They went early on Jowon Briggs in the 255th overall pick, and the value did not follow. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
