You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Mike Washington Jr. in No. 90. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Fuller steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Lee Hunter is a better player than No. 57 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A.J. Haulcy in pick 60 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Sam Hecht went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Mike Washington Jr. at Round 3, Pick 26, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.C. Davis in pick No. 129 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Andre Fuller was the payoff at pick 241. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
