The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Spencer Rattler, the No. 91 name on the board, sitting there at slot 125 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. More want than need.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Michael Hall Jr. in the 91st overall pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Spencer Rattler at Round 4, Pick 25 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Somehow Luke McCaffrey was still sitting there in the 168th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Malik Mustapha in slot 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
