Thirty-one other rooms let Keionte Scott slide, and the Vikings were the ones holding the card at slot 97. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Kelly proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They let Jeremiyah Love come to them and pounced at No. 18. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in the 49th overall pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jake Slaughter in pick 82 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Keionte Scott at the 97th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Skyler Gill-Howard, who had no business lasting to Round 5, Pick 23. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Aaron Anderson at pick No. 196 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Miles Kitselman is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Owen Heinecke in slot 235; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach on Jack Kelly in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
