The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Isaiah Williams fell into No. 233.
Reaching for Zinter left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A big swing on Zak Zinter at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Justin Eboigbe in No. 134; the board had better options right there. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 216th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Isaiah Williams all the way to slot 233, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Daijahn Anthony in pick No. 244 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
