The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 147th overall pick on Kaleb Elarms-Orr a full 36 spots early. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Cameron value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Dillon Thieneman slid further than he should have, and pick No. 43 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Bryce Lance well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They talked themselves into Kaleb Elarms-Orr at pick 147, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Matt Gulbin in slot 151 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jadon Canady. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Josh Cameron in pick No. 209 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Aiden Fisher at Round 7, Pick 7 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
