Somebody in Round 4, Pick 11 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bears sat still while Connor Lew, the No. 84 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Llewellyn has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in Round 1, Pick 25, with Sonny Styles worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on A.J. Haulcy in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Treydan Stukes in the 89th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Connor Lew was still sitting there in slot 111, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Max Llewellyn. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 239 with a little surplus value in Zavion Thomas. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Nwokobia went about where he belonged in pick 241. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
