If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bears would have aced it. Marvin Jones Jr. at Round 7, Pick 25 is 95 spots clear of where he belonged.
Slaughter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
