Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Caden Prieskorn at pick No. 255 is 35 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Stewart. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
It is not that Ransom is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Jonah Savaiinaea in Round 2, Pick 31 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nick Emmanwori in No. 70 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A conviction pick on Danny Stutsman at pick 76 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Ajani Cornelius at the 95th pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Evan Stewart in the 112th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Lathan Ransom adds a safety and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
They barely believed it either: Jordan Hancock still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value with a capital V on Jonah Coleman in No. 167, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Caden Prieskorn in Round 7, Pick 41, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
