The Bears went off the board in a big way for Caden Curry, 58 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

McNeil-Warren at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Peter Woods · DT · rank 30
In pick No. 29 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 40
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in Round 2, Pick 28 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · Caden Curry · DE-EDGE · rank 132
Caden Curry in the 74th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Davison Igbinosun · CB · rank 80
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Davison Igbinosun in the 89th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Jalen Farmer · OG · rank 109
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Farmer at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.19 · Pick 119 · Ja'Kobi Lane · WR · rank 103
Ja'Kobi Lane slid further than he should have, and pick 119 is lovely value for the wide receiver. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Justin Joly · TE · rank 122
Justin Joly in slot 129 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R5.18 · Pick 158 · Zxavian Harris · DT · rank 157
A straight-up fair deal on Zxavian Harris at the 158th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Fa'alili Fa'amoe · OT · rank 257
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Bryce Foster · C · rank 262
This one needs a full-page explanation: Bryce Foster in No. 241, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
