The Bears' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Washington Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Rodriguez pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an enforcer at safety, though they paid up to get him. Need was not the driver here.
A slide stopped in the 57th pick, with Lee Hunter worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid up for Jacob Rodriguez at pick 60 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Sam Hecht at slot 89 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mike Washington Jr. in Round 4, Pick 29 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach for De'Zhaun Stribling in the 239th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick No. 241. The roster fit checks out.
