Thirty-one other rooms let Jeff Caldwell slide, and the Falcons were the ones holding the card at Round 6, Pick 34. Highway robbery.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Lance pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid up for Christen Miller at pick 48 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Bryce Lance at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jalon Kilgore in pick No. 122 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They robbed the room for Jeff Caldwell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jadon Canady at slot 231 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
