The search is over. The Texans handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every board in the league had Thomas lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Blake Corum went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
McKinnley Jackson in the 90th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Justin Eboigbe at the 109th pick that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Travis at pick No. 123 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Tommy Eichenberg at par in No. 126, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach on Jaylan Ford in slot 163; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Xavier Thomas, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on Mark Perry in No. 239, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
