Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D+.
If Lee pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. On value alone, Wilson makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick No. 26 they get a blindside protector at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Payton Wilson at the 56th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Trey Benson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Hart. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Brandon Coleman at slot 173 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Logan Lee well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Trevin Wallace at par in Round 7, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Dominique Hampton at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
