The steal of the weekend belongs to the Cowboys and Taaffe: B.

2026 NFL Draft
· 8 picks
· 1 steals
· 1 reaches
The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Michael Taaffe slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Green reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Michael Taaffe at the 92nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tacario Davis in No. 112 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Beau Stephens in pick No. 152 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taylen Green in slot 177 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Seth McGowan at Round 5, Pick 40 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Chase Roberts at pick 218 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
