You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Evan Anderson at the 205th overall pick, roughly 68 spots before his name belonged.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Barrett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Patrick Paul in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Audric Estime at the 87th pick, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Braelon Allen this early at the 110th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Cedric Gray at par in Round 4, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Michael Barrett at slot 192 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Myles Jones slid further than he should have, and No. 212 is lovely value for the cornerback. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
