Some picks age like wine; Evan Anderson at pick No. 212 will need to, sitting 61 spots clear of his grade.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. On value alone, Simpson makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Dallas Turner in Round 1, Pick 18, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at No. 24, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bo Nix in pick 33. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Fair-plus on Byron Murphy II, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
