There is a lot to like until you notice linebacker is still a hole. The Cowboys never got to the one that mattered most. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Landing Roberts that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They are betting Igbinosun proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get an enforcer at safety at fair value.
Jalen Milroe at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Tyleik Williams, who had no business lasting to the 77th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ollie Gordon II slipping to No. 151 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Elijah Roberts at Round 5, Pick 31 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Nwankpa went about where he belonged in pick 170. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A reach for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in slot 172; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Davison Igbinosun at the 188th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.Michael Sturdivant at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at slot 231 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
