The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Jay Higgins slide 125 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. Reaching for Parr left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton at No. 42 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Tate Ratledge at Round 3, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Kurtis Rourke still on the board at slot 149. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Rylie Mills at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kalel Mullings in the 170th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Taking DeMonte Capehart in pick No. 171 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Jay Higgins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had cheaper options than Logan Parr at the 209th overall pick, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
