You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Rasheen Ali at pick No. 174, roughly 20 spots before his name belonged.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Frazier pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They jumped the gun on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sataoa Laumea in the 125th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Rasheen Ali at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Bryce Foster in slot 212 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Miles Frazier, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 25. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
