You build a draft on nights like this. Jalen Milroe had no business being available in pick 150, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Sanders has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get an every-down engine for the run game, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Deone Walker at pick No. 76 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Jalen Milroe was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 11, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 170th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cobee Bryant in pick 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Darius Alexander here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Oronde Gadsden II in slot 211 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Shilo Sanders in pick 249 says they were not listening. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
