The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Frank Crum went at pick No. 244, a good 51 picks before the board was ready. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick No. 25, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on Brenden Rice in No. 88; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No edge and no loss on Trey Benson in pick 90; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Ty'Ron Hopper at par in the 174th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
