You could see the war room lean forward. TreVeyon Henderson at the 168th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They are betting McLaughlin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 19 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Omarion Hampton at the 44th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Tyler Warren is a better player than No. 55 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fair-plus on Andrew Mukuba, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 148 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, TreVeyon Henderson in Round 5, Pick 31, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Jay Higgins at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Antwane Wells Jr. in the 171st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Nicholas Singleton all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
They paid sticker price for Miles Frazier in the 209th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Paris Shand in No. 247 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
